This year's season highlight for me was coming across Gigi's hand picked, home cut straight-from-the-woods, christmas tree. It made me want to make postcards and send them out next year saying:
Have a Light Christmas!
I guess I am more of the minimalist and so Christmas with all its commercialism and fanfare just seems a bit too much for me, though thankfully this year did not include the seemingly obligatory viewing of the overly decorated, high wattage houses of Bensonhurst. Someone told me those involved in the excess have a deal with Coned to help pay the electric bill. I wouldn't be the least surprised. If I could dredge up a picture that did it all justice to prove to those who haven't seen, I would. Unfortunately a digital camera was not in my posession at the time.
Not so surprisingly, this year we did not even put our fake tree up. I guess since getting home at the end of November time has been a little off and "the season" never really felt like it. I remind James that it's not really my holiday so if he wants something, he's got to initiate, but I guess for him too, it was not quite there.
As for New Years and the humdrum that accompanies it - once again it will not be my choice of nights to head out and party. Let everyone else do that and I'll go a week or so later!
Instead we had a night in with good food, friends and few games.
To the persians or persian rice cookers out there - I attempted for the third time in my life to make potato tadiq vs. rice tadiq and most satisfyingly, it turned out! I may have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to speaking and understanding persian, but not all heritage is lost if I can cook the food! I am pleased to say we all enjoyed the sour cherry rice with meatballs. Yum. And after a good go at "apples to apples" we rounded off the night with cherry chocolate pound cake and some kind of cheesecake something - both Tracy creations and delectible. We lit our little sparklers and wooped and hollered for about 3 and a half mins and there ended our celebrations. So to all those with hefty new years resolutions and heftier hang overs, good luck and make dreams happen.

In conclusion, I am going to add a section at the end of my posts for the totally random questions that bubble up in my head from time to time that have no particular place(Feel free to add your own!).
Today's is: why do they call them veggie meatballs if there is no meat? Surely that would make them veggieballs?
